Default Piston re-assembly 350 cc

I had the pistons on my 350cc removed. I did not pay much attention on the orientation of the pistons whemn I removed them. There are two marks on top: DF and BF. Which one should be facing front (carb side)?

I know it's a little late now but make sure you put the same rod with the right rod cap and put it back on the same journal.

Anytime you ring an engine or do any internal work that doesn't include new pistons or rods, it is critical that the same rod, cap and piston stay with the same journal and bore. Not only that, when you remove the rod mark the cap and the rod to match on one end, this way cap isn't 180 deg. out and you are also able place the rod in the same bore it came out of. I always take a small punch and mark my rod, cap and piston before I remove them. The reason for this is each bore and rod is seated in a wear pattern that fits it. If you swap this around, you may have to much clearance or not enough under final torque. The bad thing is it will show up when you finish and hit the gas. With new rods, pistons and rings you don't have to worry, because it doesn't matter which position their in.

Thanks for all the input guys. But the engine has been re-assembled. Anyway, I plan to buy a new set of pistons and rings, compression springs and valve and valve seals for a true engine re-build. That is scheduled for early next year.

No problem dude.... Engines are like women, they like to have things just the way they like it.
