removing steering wheel.
You guys had me real worried about replacing steering wheel on my club car ds
I saw threads about guys attacking it with angle grinders and dismantling whole column from cart. When I arrived home from golf,I got large lump hammer piece of 1 inch dia, brass rod, removed nut and washer give it good squirt of graphol and before replacing nut I give the wheel a few twists left and right, stuck my feet on dash grabbed wheel and give it an almighty yank{no pun intended} and bloody near broke my nose with wheel.I still don't know if I was happy it came off so easy,or cranky cause I nearly broke nose. |

Re: removing steering wheel.
I fought with mine the other day while installing a dash cover. Maybe I should have read the forum for advice before I just cut the bottom piece off of the dash and "Laissez les bon temps rouler". It still bothers me that I never got it off and I WILL get it off one day soon, but I was just a little more interested in drinking beer that day.

Re: removing steering wheel.
Had to use a gear puller on the steering wheel of my '85 DS. It extended the core of the wheel a good .25" before the rust bond was broken. I didn't think plastic could do that!

Re: removing steering wheel.
Gorno speaker of plastic,I thought the column cover was metal painted with enamel, until I slipped it off.

Re: removing steering wheel.
I just replaced my wheel and column cover this past week. One short pop with a dead blow hammer from underneath and it came right off.
