1. The club car is 1998 model.
2. The charger is a power drive model # 17930
3. The charge light light on dash is orange
4. This cart does not have an obc, neg. wire goes directly to the controller

the cart has an OBC follow the neg, cable from #6 battery it goes thur a hole in OBC to the controller but it does have an OBC....your OBC is the silver box bolted up behind the battery with the hole in the center..............

when I put the new neg. cable on I cut one end of the old cable off and pulled the cable out. I by-passed the hole thinking it was just a holder. Why does the neg cable need to go through the obc when it is not hooked to anything?

feeling stupid, LYNCUR

If U skipped threading or someone befor U took the OBC off that is your problem.
The PowerDrive series of chargers have to have the OBC connected , no 2 ways about it. OBC is a whitish plastic bubble looking mounted on the wall behind the batteries on the driver side.

the hole is actually a hall effect sensor which monitors current. this allows for the computer to log Ah consumed while operating and Ah replenished while charging.
