93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
Hello Forum.
This be my first official post. I have ohm'd my throttle pot by measuring between both wires going to the controller. My meter reading steps up and down smooth. Only issue is, after I reach 5k I can further press the pedal all the way to the board and stop with a reading of around 7.3k. Do I only need to adjust my pedal or has the pot been compromised in some way? I know I can adjust the pedal but if the electrons have an open door for mischief who knows what else I may face in the future. I just what to keep the system tight. Thanks in advance. Gonkulator valves and muffler bearings:) |

Re: 93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
If the cart falters at full peddle this may be over the range of what the controller can read in which case I suggest adjusting the peddle linkage. Are you getting a full 0 at the other end?
If the cart runs fine like this I would not bother. Welcome to BGW! |

Re: 93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
Thanks for the quick reply!
I have a very, very small distance of travel off of a steady zero reading. I can measure aprox 0.080" of lower pedal rod travel where my meter reading bounces around but doesn't go above 200ish ohms. Continued pedal travel returns a steady zero reading until the normal ramp up. Other than that, performance is fine. I should check my sporatic reading off of resting zero with an anolog meter. I will do that tonight. Appreciated Gonk |

Re: 93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
If the cart is starting out suddenly rather than smoothly you may want more play at the bottom end to give the control time to power up before the ohms reading gets up too high...?

Re: 93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
Update. Still needing help
I did a lot to my cart today. Greatest thing I did was fiddle with my F-N-R assy plus all goods under the plastic rainshield, ie. Pot, lever assy, solenoid etc. I don't see any $ components which need replaced immediately. My only real need atm is to fab all new cables, that will be a snap. Speaking of SNAP, I'm still trying to get my accelerator pedal synced with the pot and I'm afraid my next attempt will snap my lower accelerator rod swivel socket. Please see picture below, my manual doesn't illustrate how it comes apart. When I press my go go pedal to the floor I still get 7.4k ohms. I need to shorten the whole linkage. I shortened the fwd clevis end but I'm afraid there is too much spring tension on the vertical link with plastic ends that hooks up to the pot lever. Regards Gonk. Holy pixels batman. Ya think I could post larger pictures? p.s. I keep hearing how you guys like pictures so i am going to drop them into the "what did ...... today" thread Last edited by Gonkulor; 09-17-2011 at 09:24 PM.. Reason: very large picture |

DUDE! resize your pictures I am viewing this on a 22" monitor and this pic is about 3 feet across. It jacks up the whole page.

Re: 93 Marathon Series, throttle pot question
Did you figure out the throttle disassembly?
Just grasp the barrel and slid it away from the ball and the rod will come off the ball. |

I see all these first posts were and was wondering what my first post was.
