The biggest mistake I see people make with plasticis to try to wash off a dirty windshield with a cloth or PT. If the windshield is noticeably dirty, like you could write your name in the dirt, then do not, DO NOT, wipe it off. Use a hose to rinse the grit particulate off first. Then polish with any of the products mentioned above

Dirty windshields that have been wiped clean are identified by the big swirling scratches made by the grit in the common dust around these parts....

That's good info Scotty. Same holds true for eyeglasses with antireflective coating. You MUST rinse them off first before cleaning them, otherwise the tiniest bits of dust scratch them.
