Default ITS Throttle Adjustment

Ok, just got my 94 Medalist running today thanks to a great deal of help from this site and its members. I know I need to replace my batteries, they are reading about 35.9 after sitting following charge so I know they are shot. Cart seems really slow. Is that just due to the poor battery condition or do I need to adjust my ITS? When pedal is fully depressed, the plunger on the ITS is flush with the back of the housing. I have not measured the output voltage on from the ITS to the controller but I think it should read about 1.5 volts, is that correct? With a full battery pack replacement should I expect a big speed increase? Sorry lots of questions but just wanting someone that knows to chime in. Thanks. By the way this is a 36 volt series cart.

That reading is below dead! You may have one bad battery or more. Make sure your water levels are correct, recharge until your charger turns off, and then check each battery individually. Here's a link to a chart for battery voltages!

The ITS plunger should come flush, or close to, the rearward end of the coil assembly when the pedal is all the way down. Your speed and power problems will probably be cured when you can get your battery issue straightened out. Work on the batteries first!

That was kind of my thought as well. Charger on the cart tonight and I will check the voltages tomorrow.

i believe the its is set so that you have 7/32 clearance between the end of the plunger and the coil at rest (no pedal). somebody correct me if i'm wrong. gorno did a write up about this but can't find it now.

That's right

ITS output for a stock controller is 1.5v to .5v

Ok I know this thread is about the ITS but while I have you....just got the cart wired up yesterday. Forward is fine but right now I have no reverse? Not sure what I need to check. I verified the wiring against my brothers cart (same model but my F/R switch is a little different. I was assuming the main lug layout on the F/R switch is the same. Would one of the 2 micros on the F/R switch cause this? Thanks.

Yes, it could be a micro switch problem.
