Default 2001 EZGO engine removal

I am working on a 2001 Gas Ezgo and the engine is locked up tight. I was wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of when removing this engine? Any tricks or procedures? Does the body need to come off? A step by step guide would be great. I am doing this for a friend or I would already have a manual. I want to find out whats wrong with the engine and see if it can be salvaged. If not, a we will be looking for a replacement. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Jerry

Just remove the 8 bolts. Remove all attachments (cables, filters, ignition wires). Then simply pull up the engine, less than 80 pounds and even lighter with the drive clutch removed. Can be done in less than 20 minutes. No tools other than a vice grip, 19mm socket for the starter generator and 14 or 15mm spanner for those 8 bolts. Oh, 12 mm to loosen the accelerator cable.

Probably a connecting rod seized on the crankshaft journal, low to no oil

Thanks everyone. I got the engine out. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I hope tomorrow to tear it apart.

putting it back in is the strange/hard part,, read and follow the manuel about the order of putting the bolds back in,,just start the bolts until all 8 are in before you tighten them , the last one is the hardest one,

The one under the exhaust? I thought it would be hard but since I have the rear on ramps and the front on jack stands, It was actually quite easy. I used a wrench for all the bolts. Easier to get to then a socket on the back 2.

I have been a Club Car man for almost 10 years. Maybe its all the carts I have done over the years and knew what to look for to disconnect.... I don't know. But I thought it was pretty easy to do. Maybe its the experience of not being afraid to tear into things. I have learned to take many pictures on the way so when it comes to re-assembling, I have references. I will post what I find and the progress of repairing it.

The rear leaf spring perch was broken off from the frame. Is this a common thing or a freak break? I ground it down and re welded it back on. I am to go thru this cart and fix anything I find wrong.

How do I fix the front tire from leaning in at the top? Its not bad but noticable. I don't see any adjustment. Thanks again for the help all.

This is very likely a kingpin isue. Replace the bushings and the kingpin, if necessary.

Looks just like that. I will check it more when I get off work this morning. I have it on jack stands now and will see if it has slop to it.
