Re: Made a Mini Spool for a G2 Rear End
How did he get the machined side gears to stay put in the mini spool? Don't see any welds or pins. Is it just a tight fit that is pressed together. Exploring my options and trying to get motivated to use my lathe instead of just welding them together on my 87' g2a. thoughts?

He cut the gears off the very end of the splined collars which have the splines for the axles ends. Welded in a short piece, turned it down true and then pinned the whole thing. Still working very well.

Re: Made a Mini Spool for a G2 Rear End
That is what I thought, he just did too good of a job on the finish to tell if it was pinned. Well, I guess that is enough motivation for me. I am going to first try and design a small lockable diff setup, then if the space doesn't allow I will make a mini spool for full lock up. Now to try and figure out how to get my little 6inch atlas lathe to hold 2 inch stock in the 1 inch jaws. Will update with finished product.

Good luck to you. The spool has made my cart much better in the woods while hunting.

What did you use for steel? And did you do the same as "never grow up" or come up with your own design?

I am not sure what "never grow up" did with his design, I never got a chance to talk and ask him about his design.

Re: Made a Mini Spool for a G2 Rear End
Guys I don't think this guy comes here anymore. I've sent him multiple PM's with no response. There were two guys on here that built a spool for these carts, can't seem to get in touch with either one of them.
