98 electric club car rear axle removal
have removed drum & brakes,,,what next??

Welcome to BGW!
The axle bearing has a retainer nut inside the axle tube, This holds the axle in the tube... you can only access it with 90degree C clip pliers while looking thru the hole in the axle flange to see what you are doing......Once the C clip is removed the axle slides out... careful diff oil often runs out the low side. Be ready with a pan... hope this helps! |

lemme see ...... here is the axle..... and here is a crappy shot of the hole you look thru to see the C clip which you can see hanging on the axle in pic #1... I always pull these out to do a brake job, be sure you put the brakes back on first then put the axle back in...... you didn't say why you were removing it?

i have removed the c-clips and still the axles will not come out..i think i have a bad bearing and this is why i need to remove the axle..i have used a small sledge hammer to hit the back of the flange,but nothing is moving..any further suggestions???

. . . try a little heat on the axle tubes in the vicinity of the bearing while tapping the flange . . .

Steve..I used a slide hammer and the axles came out quite easily. Only 3-4 hits..Thanks to all for your help..Mike
