The speed chip has produced flat ground speed of 19mph, maybe 20mph with the slightly taller tire? I dunno that's splitting hairs. I have not GPSed her. But I have used her and she rides around like a dream. I just feel the need to boost her a mite.
If you too have the Tim Taylor affliction follow along
I gotta follow this. I read all the replies and am getting a kick out of what your doing. It's like we could stick you in a corner with the 42v thing but you slid out of that faster than a spineless weasel. You have a charger! Post #8 has super lube. How can anyone not make a remark about lubing super? Shall I go on? LOL

The Western cart factory is/was less than 75 miles from me so we see more Western GC than anywhere else. I think.
Western was a big fan of the 42v drive system. They used a Curtis 450 and an aftermarket motor and their carts scooted right along.
So I thought why not?

42V - Interesting concept.

If you get a chance, please GPS it with a fully charged 36V battery pack.

I'm not going to go with 42V because of the charger issue, but I am considering a DCX400 @ 36V if and when the smoke leaks out of my stock PDS controller and would like to know what top speed you get with 20" tires so I can do the math and roughly estimate what I would get with my 18.5" tires.

I did this, after I filled the front flat tire (who knew, right?) I got 25mph (on 20s) with the 400DCX set at 100% and turbo on... because we run carts to the neighbor ranch. But this cart has a bad rear bearing (the mechanics cart, right?), might have gone faster but we won't know ... she has 7 batteries charging in her belly tonight
The bearing is on my list ..... along with a few other upgrades for my sweetheart's cart..... wonder if she will notice. I'm not telling her I added a battery. LOL

The charger would not shut off....... just like I was told. I broke down and spent a $150 (dealer cost!) for a new control circuit board for the Lester 42v Deluxe Size Charger... it's huge, lol. Well anyway, The charger is purring like a kitten and all the batteries are cooing like pigeons I got a sweet little 43.9v reading this AM (new batteries). Guess it was worth it. Dang free charger, hope it holds up anyway!

Thumbs up Re: Ezgo 42 volt conversion

Charger is doing good with a new circuit board in it. DPI makes a good 42v charger that is comparably priced with their 36 and 48v chargers. This makes this project simple and affordable.

The advantages I see to 42v are...
1. Easy 7th battery installation in the space provided under the driver's seat.
2. No hard to get to batteries in the bagwell or long battery cable runs.
3. Plenty of wheel spinning power & speed
4. Increased run time
