Re: New to the cart world! What do I have??
Short of tying a rope between your vehicle and cart, then handing your beer to a friend while saying: "Watch this...", No. Your resisters will burn up and you'll never be able to get the speed you are wanting.
You're going to need to upgrade to a controller style electrical system at the least, and jumping up to 48 Volts during the conversion would be even better. I just upgraded my 1986 36 Volt Resistor cart to a 48 Volt controller cart using the stock Club Car parts from my parts cart and used my original 36 Volt motor. The old girl moves pretty quick and I haven't upgraded anything yet! Check ScottyB's Carts Unlimited. He has a very reasonable electrical conversion kit that is also easy to install with common hand tools. -Scott H. |

Thanks Scott I appreciate the direction! So I guess about 600 would get me to where I need to be. Looks like I will start saving up!!

Re: New to the cart world! What do I have??
No problem, I'm always glad to help when I can.
Honestly, I would suggest waiting for ScottyB to get back from his vacation over the holidays and send him a message. He'll steer you straight for what you need to upgrade to get the cart where you want. Once I get the holidays paid off from my credit card , I'm going to be upgrading a couple of things on my cart that he recommended to me when I first thought about getting the old girl into the modern age of electrics. Everyone I have talked to that has upgraded using his parts has had nothing but good things to say about both him and his parts. -Scott H. |
