Reverse Not Working after F&R Replaced

I have replaced my F and R switch. Before I replaced the F &R sometimes I had to put it in reverse then neutral then reverse again to get it to engage and go in reverse. I finally had to replace the F&R because forward stopped working as well.

After replacing the F&R the Forward works fine but Reverse won't work. The buzzer sounds and I can hear a click went I hit the gas but nothing happens.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this problem or has anyone had the same problem???

I cleaned all the connections and fasened them in tight. All of the cables going into the F&R are getting power. and the nuts behind the connection all get power when all are hooked up.

I checked the contact studs and they seem to be lined up perfectly.

Buzzer is working and I hear a click when I hit the gas but it wont go into reverse.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a simple shifter adjustment. The F&R base has 2 slotted holes through which it bolts to the floor. The side to side movement of the F&R using these two slotted holes is the shifter adjustment. If the shifter is out of adjustment you may not be making contact in reverse.
A good way to check for this is to remove the shift linkage from the F&R and use a 9/16 wrench to shift the F&R. If it goes in reverse when shifted with the wrench then you know you have an adjustment issue.

I placed my FNR exactly in Neutral, then shifted it back and forth until the shifter knob was exactly in Neutral. I then tightened the bolts.

What F&R did you install? Where did you get it from?

Regardless of where he got it from they all work the same.
Check the shifter throw as I laid out in the previous post and recheck your cable locations per diagram below. If shifter throw and cable connections all check out then make sure the rear center nut B in instruction sheet below is tight. You should find your problem in one of these three things.

The reason I ask is because the one I purchased had an interference problem preventing it from getting into reverse. I had to do some trimming to get it in reverse.

If you remove the linkage to the F&R and turn it by hand to make sure it goes into reverse visually, then when in that position check to see if it moves. Just a sanity check I had to do to isolate my problem.

This is why I asked him to remove the linkage and shift it with the 9/16th wrench.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I disconnected the arm and manually moved the switch all the way over to Reverse. Still the same thing, a click in the solenoid when i hit the gas but no reverse. Forward does the same click but it actually goes forward.

The Solenoid if getting power.

I purchased EZGO 1994'-Newer 36 Volt Series Models (non DCS/PDS) from East Coast Golf Cart Parts online.

Is their anyway to find out if it is wired correctly??

Go back to my diagram and tighten NUT B as suggested.

Check the contact studs that not only that they are lined up correctly but they are actually touching. You may just have to re-torque the f&r cam to the switch plate to correct the issue.
