Default Re: 81 DS CC - Fried F/R Switch?

So, I have found a burned-out/stuck F/R micro switch that caused my initial problems. I did it when I was futzing around and reversed the y/b wire there.

I, then, compounded the problem by trying to trigger the master solenoid. I think I had positive on the right pole of the master solenoid and the negative brushed the buss bar. Throttle was held at 1st speed. The arc welding lightshow coming from the speed switch assembly box told me I had dun goofed.

The three terminal micro switch in the speed switch assembly was fried. The green terminal was burned off the switch. Orange was barely hanging in there. The switch was stuck closed.

Any ideas on what happened? Reversed polarity? Overvolted or is that even possible?

I found a "rebuild kit" for the speed switch box on Ebay. I only needed three micro switches, a 3-terminal and two 2-terminals, but I picked up all 5, a switch slide, grommet, and two new end caps for the box for $30 shipped. Seemed like a steal.
