Rookie needs help
First off I wanna say thanks to everyone as I have been a member for about a month and have learned so much on this site. Im looking to build my 2007 club car precedent, I have picked a lift and tires already but I would like to upgrade the torque. I mainly use the cart for hunting and fishing at the river in the summer. From what I've gathered looks like a new controller and wires may be the trick. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Curtis SepEx 1268-5504. Minor modification to fit. 500 amp mildly tuned. Can be tuned into a monster with an IQDM.

Re: Rookie needs help
I agree with brad, upgrading to a controller with more amps will improve your torque...

Re: Rookie needs help
You could upgrade the controller to a 500amp or get ahold of Plum Quick motors and have them build you a high torque motor instead. And you could keep the stock controller for now. Then once you get enough coin saved up you could upgrade the controller and get even more torque plus 2-3 more mph.

Re: Rookie needs help
So I could get by with just a 500 amp controller? What about a f&r switch? I heard afew guys talk about that.

Re: Rookie needs help
F&R switch would not be for a precedent cart. That's for a series cart, I really think the motor would be the way to go. Or upgrade the controller. Keep in mind the larger the controller the less run time due to more amps being pulled. Plus a motor swap takes 20 minutes. A controller upgrade can take all day to mount and then some.

Controller upgrade and cables.
If it takes you all day and then some, you are Stevie Wonder. |

Re: Rookie needs help
Not looking to steal thread but... will the controller wipe the regen braking of the motor? Some threads I read indicated it would. As I've previously mentioned, the "electronic govenor" is a feature I don't want to loose knowing my kids will be driving this cart but I'm concerned after we finish the lift with 23s, my torque is gone on our hills. I was looking at cables and controller to fix it so this thread has me listening with my eyes as I too am a rookie at all this.

Re: Rookie needs help
Ok...finally done with most all the upgrades. I ended up buying a 400 amp controller and 1 of scotty b's hd solenoids, upgrading wires this weekend. Definitely helped torque, just got back from a test run...it did great. Thanks again guys.
and the controller only actually took around 30 min. |
