All golf carts are designed to run in the 12 to 14 mile an hour range due to golf course limits. Series motors produce more torque with the larger controller and more speed with higher operating voltage. Since you are asking about a 48 V motor higher voltage would mean 60 V. This is just not a practical operating voltage, nor is 72 volts. A 36v motor operating on 48v would give you about 16 to 18 mph assuming stock tire height.

Any upgrades you make to the resistor coil system is not going to improve the speed assuming your current components are capable of delivering the full battery pack amperage. New wires and solenoids may improve torque.

Found out the 48V motor is toast today. So with that, no batteries, 5 solenoids need replacing, need batteries trays welded in, worried about corrosion and rust on the rear end and axle (at least it rolls!)... is this even worth fixing? If so, seems the solid state conversion kit from you is the starting point. Suggestions on which one? No hills to speak of in FL, just looking to run around the neighborhood, but would likely purchase some sort of upgraded motor (plum quick Bandit or similar??) for increased speed and torque and eventually lift the car and run 10" or 12" wheels and A/T tires.
