Wakefield 120 is good stuff, but most any thermal compound will work. Use the stuff for mounting power transistors instead of the stuff used to couple CPU chips to their heatsink. The CPU stuff will work, but it is far more expensive, a bit of an overkill and you'll need several tubes of it.

A 2oz jar of Wakefield 120 costs about $10 and is more than enough. It also comes in 4gm tubes, but that may not be enough.

In later years, EZGO used a thermal mat between the controller and heatsink and that has to be removed. Apparently the heatsink side had an adhesive on it, so it doesn't come off easy. You'll probably have to use a wire wheel.

If possible, remove the heatsink from the cart. I sprayed the four mounting bolts with Kroil, let the set for a couple days and they came out easy.
