I don't have a portable radio, or I'd have been playing. I do know with all of my car radios that they mute rather than scream static. In fact, many automatically go from stereo to mono. Back in the 70s, mine had a manual switch for this, and when you drove into a fringe reception area (not interference) switching to mono helped.
I don't have any problems with 30 mile away FM stations, but my antenna is inside my overhear console. Where is your antenna and what type is it? |
