RXV braking is crazy!!
So....after finally getting a customers RXV running good and all....you go to stop, you have to put pedal to the floor and it just locks the brakes up.
rebuilt controller, new throttle switch, new brake switch, new encoder bearing, new motor brake......and im at a loss for now. any ideas? our code scanner tool at the shop wont recognize any codes on the rebuilt controller(flight systems). |

Locking up when pressing the brake to the floor is normal. That is the parking brake kicking in as a backup in case the motor brake is not working - which it sounds like it is not. I would look at the controller as being the culprit since it controls normal motor breaking functions.

Also measure the voltage to the break pedal. As I understand it will have a positive low voltage (5v) while released. When you start pressing the break it decreases the voltage. I'm sure someone with much more experience will chime in...

Re: RXV braking is crazy!!
Brake position sensor is a 0-5v thing. It is fed 5v in, its output shows about .45v at rest, about 4.7v at full brake.

Re: update
it probably just needed to be reprogrammed. My exp, with flight systems is they wont tell you if there was a problem with the old controller. At least they wont tell me. It's crazy i know that sometimes they just re program them. Some controllers just have a stupid fuse or diode inside them that goes bad, and Iv'e fixed several of them by opening them up and poking around inside. The logic cards on the controllers see a fault then they wont work no matter the problem. Sometimes i hate the newer contollers. The china knockoffs suck big time fsip won't even touch them.
