Default Do I need a 48 to 12 volt step down converter?

I have installed 2 Allied Lithium batteries in my '05 Precedent. I have run them down to 45% and recharged them a couple of times. Very happy so far.

However I haven't actually completed the install. I did bypass the OBC using CGR-123 (wire A & B) but did not connect the accessories wire.

(please Google CGR-123 as I am a newbie not allowed to post links)

I was told I need a 48 to 12 volt step down converter to run accessories. I bought the converter but now I am thinking I don't need it because I don't have any "accessories".

I have headlights and taillights but are they "accessories"?

The headlights and taillights worked fine before the conversion, why wouldn't they work now?

Should I go ahead and connect the accessories wire?

The accessories were connected to two of the 8v batteries. You don't have that option anymore. Just guessing if you connect them now you will be connecting it to 48v. Which isn't good.

You will need a converter to run the lights.

Thanks for your help.

That leaves me with another problem.

I assume the accessories lead shown in the accompanying wiring diagram (which I left unconnected) needs to be connected to the positive wire of the converter.

How can I find/ID the negative accessories connection?

The wire labeled not connected near the top of the picture is the negative connection B-

I am in the process of adding three 48V 30AH Allied batteries to my 2007 CC Precedent. My OBC is bypassed. Do I need to add a bypass kit to install a 48v to 12v Step Down converter? Right now I have a light kit that has a pod that splits and connects to the battery (right now a 12V Lead Acid) and connects to a blue wire. Now that the battery will be 48v I need the step down converter. Certainly understand that it connects to the end of the paralleled batteries but not sure where to connect the accessory wires.

anything that is 12vdc is an accessory. Most if not all LED lights for a cart need a clean 12vdc source. It might work on another voltage but you will ruin them.

A 48 to 12V converter connects to your 48V battery and generates 12V on two wires for your lights. You need this if you are using Lithium. It will come with a wiring diagram but you need to know what you are doing.
