Default Broke F2 Bolt on Motor

Just installed my Alltrax 400 and the cart ran great but then I decided to replace my F1, F2 cables with a thicker gauge (dumb idea)..

After successfuly swapping F1, I went to tighten the F2 nut on the motor, and the bolt snapped at the base. The bushing came off and my pride and weekend hopes of cruising around evaporated.

What to do now?? Should I just throw in the towel and buy a new motor? Or what does a fix like this entail?

Precedent PH Excel 2010 stock 3.3 HP motor.

Also, if it a new motor is to be bought, I need one that can utilize all 400 amps from the alltrax to pull me up hills and also still go about 20+mph

Since motor is 10 yrs old, I'd send it to Robby at Plum Quick for a Bandit upgrade. Send an email to the info@... address that is given on the site and Robby will respond. They are one of the BGW site sponsors. He will explain the process to you. Hopefully, he has one in stock and you can return your old motor to him in the Bandit box for core credit. I have had great luck with the Bandit. That's my 2 cents.

That's the field coil stud, so it would need to have a new one brazed on.
Any competent starter motor/alternator rebuild shop can probably do that, but might cost $75 - 100 depending on labor in your area.

Lots of motor options out there that can burn hills and run 20+. A torque motor would probably be best, especially if you have a lift.
Talk to ScottyB, he can get you set up right.

I talked to a few welders and they say it cannot be done. Welding the bolt could inhibit amperage from flowing and they do not think the fix will be strong enough..

Can i fix this from the inside?

A Motor shop can replace it. They have to braze the field wire to a new stud. It has to be done properly or the connection between the stud and the field wire can melt.

The field coils do not carry high current on a Sepex motor, so it’s not as critical as a series motor to have a perfect connection there, but regular solder may not be good enough to handle what current does move through that connection.
