Default Re: Need that little extra push

FWIW: In the TXT Owner manual for 2001 and up, it states: "Do not to tow more than three vehicles at a time." on Pg-11.

Setting aside the stresses on the frame, the issue is not having sufficient starting torque to get the cart moving up the incline while pulling boat out of water.

The 22" tires decreases the available torque by 18%, but the 400A controller increases it by 33%, for a net gain of about 15% over stock, however 15% more than stock is not enough top do the job.

The stock solenoid (85A) is a bottleneck that must be fixed, no matter what else is done.

A D&D 170-501-0001 motor will up the torque by another 10% while reducing the top speed by about 10%. Question is, is 10% more torque enough?

A D&D 170-502-0001 motor will up the torque by 40% while reducing top speed by about 33%.

Adding a seventh battery (42V pack) will up both the torque and the top speed by about 17%.

Adding two batteries (48V pack) will up both torque and speed by about 33%.

Plus there are mechanical options. (Tire height and gear ratios)

As illustrated, obtaining more starting torque is very doable, so the question becomes: How much is needed and what is the cart to be used for when not pulling boats out of the water?

Starting Torque vs Top Speed is the compromise that has to be decided.
Fortunately, with a sepex motor, the difference between the two extremes isn't as much as it is with a series motor.

I think we al agree and have stated/implied more torque is the solution to pulling the trailer without the motor stalling. Thanks Johnnie for putting it terms, (percentage of increase/decrease) that can be easily understood.
The, "do not tow more than 3 vehicles", comment makes me smile. I know every company tries to leave themselves an out when it comes to product usage information, but that statement leaves hole big enough to walk through. ie: We meant only when going down hill. We meant when pulling carts with some other vehicle. Very interesting.
