Default How long should my charger stay on for?

Just plugged it in, 1997 power wise charger, on a 2003 txt 36vwith brand new Trojans.

Plugged it in, jumped to almost 20a, then slowly tampered off, when I left it, it was hovering at 14a.

Just went to check it and it was off. Was only on 45min tops.

Checked each batter voltage and they ranged 6.58-6.62.

Is there some thing wrong?

I had read it could take up to 12 hours for full charge....but is that after being used? Bad in like a car battery they're good to go right out the gate?

You could try what's called an equalization charge which is to unplug and replug so that the charge starts again... BUT Any reading above 6.37 or 38.20 is over and above 100 % SOC so you could also wait overnight and check your rested voltage.... Yes your newly bought battery may have already been pretty near full charge at purchase...

Mrjonman....your batteries are new, you just picked them up, whomever you bought them from may have given them a good charge prior to you getting them. this happened to my the last time I bought a set.....but like the others mentioned, you can always re-initiate the charge of you like.

You might want to check the "on charge" voltage to see at what voltage it is kicking off. Should shut-off between 44 and 46 volts. I had a Powerwise 3 charger that kicked off at 41.8 volts, which is too low for a proper charge. Ray

Drove it to the neighborhood recycle bins this evening, ran great and when I returned, plugged it back, kicked on for a second and then off. Seems to be working properly!

Appreciate the help!
