PDS cart

I have a DCS and have learned from this forum that upgrading to larger tires and having flip seats and not upgrading from stock controller can lead to issues.

Does the same thing hold true for a PDS cart? I have seen people selling lifted PDS carts that have flip seats to carry more people with large tires...but they don't upgrade the controller or motor. Does this create problems?

What's your take on this?

It is actually more true for a PDS cart, since a stock DCS motor has more torque than a Stock PDS motor and torque is what is needed for tall tires and rear seats.

On the other hand, a DCS controller is a failed design and less reliable than a PDS controller, so the failure rate may be a statistical tie.

In any case, adding taller tires and/or a rear seat adds an additional workload on the drive train regardless if the cart is a DCS, PDS or Series drive and an issue that should be addressed, or at least taken into consideration.

In my opinion, putting tall tires on golf cart and adding a rear seat without upgrading the drive system to match the new tasking, is akin to putting lipstick and rouge on a pig.

13 mph stock 19 mph with freedom chip.

Costs money to upgrade the drivetrain......most just slap on tires and a seat and put a sales sticker in the window.

If rear sagging with a loaded flip seat is your only concern the stock tires will work fine. My PDS TXT is stock. I did make new rear shackles 2" longer to take out the sag when the flip seat is loaded. Easy to make from 1.5" x .25" steel you can get at Lowes. You can also add heavier duty springs.
