The relay and the breaker both check out. Plus the encoder is definitely good. Does the 1520 controller have any 'diagnostic out' pin? The 1268 has an LED on pin 22, but the 1520 has nothing connected there. Do you know of any other definite similarities/differences?

I believe the pin-out is the same. If you could tie into that pin with an LED light, it may do the trick. I've swapped 1268 controllers onto cars that originally had 1520s on them with no further modification to the wiring and they've worked great.

If anyone is interested, it was the controller. Installed Curtis 1268 w/walk away brake and was a direct plug and play. I'm planning on taking the bad one apart next week to see what I find.
