Ezgo TXT front leaf

I replaced my rear leaf springs with the dual action leafs and it made a big difference. It added 3 inches to my height and got rid of the driver side lean.

So, I thought why not replace the front leaf springs.

I really could not find any how to videos to replace the front leaf springs.

I did find a video to replace the front shocks.

Are the front leafs easy to do?

Any help would be much appreciated.

The fronts are just as easy as the rears, but they are attached a little differently. Use a floor jack and jack stands, and be careful when removing the bolts, to remove the strain. They can let loose violently if you don't support them and the buggy properly. It's pretty intuitive.

In looking at the ezgo parts manual...

Looks like there is a single bolt on each end of the front leaf.

With rear leaf, I had to put a jack stand under axle to keep it from falling...

For front leafs, what is the basic procedure for the jacks to release tension on the spring to get it off and put new one on?

Now just need to know best place to place jack stands...

I like to get everything figured out before I start hacking on my cart.

I found this after making my post...This was posted on another thread from Scottyb.


You will need a pair of jack stands and a floor jack. Small and lightweight is okay, we are only lifting a portion of the 800-1000 # total.

Put the jack under the center point of the front axle and jack it up off the floor. Place the frame rails on the jack stands and lower the jack.

Rock or other wise push the cart as you might when working on it and check your setup for stability. Adjust as necessary for safety.

Remove the front wheels.

place the jack under the front axle and raise it until a few pounds rest on the jack but no so you lift the cart at all from the jacks.

Re-test stability of the cart.

Place the removed tires and wheels under the cart, behind the jack stands where they may catch the cart if it falls.

With a 9/16 remove the lower shock nuts.

With a 5/8 remove the 3 bolts from the front & rear of one of the leaf springs set.

Remove the spring and replace with the new one.

Repeat on the other side. Torque all 5/8 nuts to 110 ft.pds. dry or 80 if they are oiled.

Replace shock bushings and nuts.

Replace tires. Remove jack stands.

Aren't Ezgos NICE?
Put the tools away, Grab an adult beverage and test the cart on a closed course

If I recall, I placed my front on two jack stands, then used the floor jack under the leaf, and after carefully removing the bolt, lowered the jack. It's been a few years, and I may be remembering wrong, but it's basically the same thing I did on my rears, the only difference being there is a bolt on one end of the leaf.

Looking at the diagram...

Is the bolt that bolts the spring up to the frame easy to get to?

The 3 bolts towards the front of the spring seem easily accessible.

It's been a few years, but I don't remember the fronts being any harder than the rears. You may have to remove the floor mat, but again, I'm going from memory.

This may be covered in the service manual, from the stickies. Even if you don't find your exact year model, they didn't really change much over the years.

I took look up and under the cart...

I can see access to the nut but don't see how to get access to the bolt #35 to loosen and tighten the nut down.

I just crawled under mine - 1998 Series TXT, and all three fronts are readily available. The three rears require removing the floor mat, though you may be able to loosen and tighten them without removing the floor mat.
