Default battery chargers

looking for any info on the following,
I have a 48v 4 batt. system. I am a snowbird in Fla. back at home in new England I have 2 cars and a motorcycle which the batterys are maintaind by a battery tender it is a 4 lead model with 4 separate aligater clips, would this work on my golf cart? hooking each lead to each battery? never had a problem overcharging and I know when the batterys are full charge unit shuts down, has anyone tried this before?
thanks.

With the cables removed
You have 4 12 volt batteries

Connected in parallel , you'd have 1 big 12 volt battery

Check with the the battery tender manufacturer

What I don't understand is, with the batteries connected I measure each one and I get what a 12v battery should read on my meter, why is it important to disconnect cables?
just trying to understand
thanks.

Is your battery tinder set up to charge two batteries at one time? If so you could use it to charge two of you cart batteries at one time, then switch and charge the other two without unhooking any cables. Thing is that don't seem like a very good way, you would need two of them to put on your batteries to keep them topped off while you are gone. The beat thing you could do is get a DPI stand alone charger. It will do a lot better job taking care of your batteries.

He said that he has a tender with 4 leads to connect to 4 batteries, I think
A bit confused with the 4 alligator clip statement? That would be 2 batteries?

Anyways it is fine to hook it up to each battery, it might not work with all of the batteries wired together, but those battery tenders have good self protection so I doubt it will hurt anything to try. Sometimes they will sense the current from the other batteries when the batteries are left connected and not work, in that case you will need to remove the battery connections..
