Default '99 Club Car DS Transaxle Lube Change

I am rebuilding my 48V electric '99 Club Car DS. I noticed the transaxle is dirty from oil around the breather cap.

While I have the body off I'm thinking I should change the oil in the transaxle. I don't see a drain plug to remove the old oil.

Is it recommended to change the oil in the transaxle? What's the best way to do it? What type of oil and quantity does it require.

Most use 30w non-detergent motor oil....many are changing over to full synthetic and that does make it worth while...😎

SAE 30 oil is what it calls for. There will be both a drain and a fill bolt on the side of the diff. Simply fill it to the fill bolt hole. I can't remember off the top of my head how much it takes...

Both of my CC's took right at 22 ounces of Mobil 1 75W 90 gear oil
It's the same viscosity as SAE 30

I agree with Kashmir, and the book calls for 22 oz's.

I used synthetic Royal Purple SAE 30. It wasn't easy to find, but O'Reillys did have it in stock.

I'm going with a high quality 75-90 synthetic GEAR oil for my 2000 DS. IMHO the SAE30 motor oil recommended by CC was a way to keep fleet cart's maintenance cost down for the golf courses.

Club Car and Ingersoll Rand, parent company, are big on engineering.

No need to second guess their recommendation in my opinion.
