Motorcycle/powersport battery.
Hey gang. 2013 TXT 48v golf cart. OK, I'm wanting some opinions on this. I'm adding a set of underglow type led lights and going to wire up a 12v outlet for a phone charger. I'm wondering if a 12v motorcycle type battery would be sufficient. Normally (at the beach/mtns) the led lights would only be used for a couple hours at a time and then of course charging phones. We stream music to a rechargeable Bluetooth speaker so I don't currently have plans to install a radio. .... I appreciate any thoughts you guys may offer. Thanks

Re: Motorcycle/powersport battery.
I suppose it would depend on how many amps you draw, and how often you plan on/are willing to have to recharge it. I'm planning on doing something similar soon using a small deep cycle gel battery because it will be in a difficult location to service.
Others here can tell you more about what to expect as far as usage/time between charge etc. If you do go this route please keep us updated on how it works for you. |

Re: Motorcycle/powersport battery.
I have the Opt7 full underglow kit. It draws very little power and I have it wired directly to 2 of my 6v batteries. Prob not the ideal way to power it but it works for my application and I plan on adding a voltage reducer soon.

Add the voltage reducer now. I promise you will be glad you did.

Re: Motorcycle/powersport battery.
Well, a decent 12v powersports battery is $49 to & 59. From scottyBs you can get a reducer and a fuse box and ground block for $85. I'll probably just get a reducer from scottyBs.
