Default "Charger input supervision" fault--not in manual

2011 EZGO RXV, Curtis controller. Controller ended up being faulty (swapping with new one made car go without codes) but the code that showed up on the bad controller has me confused--it's not listed in any manual I've found for Curtis controllers.

"Charger input supervision". under the 'system faults' section. Under 'monitor', 'inputs' it does show 'charger connected--no' so it's not the charge port, and this code does not show up with the new controller so same port obviously ok. Just curious what it means. Keeps you from pushing the car in TOW and N (on) as well. Randomly cleared (would run--once, then code came back when key was cycled and never cleared again.)

Anyone see this one before?

Just thinking out loud here..

Could this be a deal where the controller thinks the charger is connected so it’s locking out?

I get that ‘charger connected = no’. But it seems, for some reason, the controller thinks a charge is being applied to the battery pack.

The monitor tab showed that it wasn't (under the inputs) so my guess is it's different. If a charger was connected i usually get a different code for just that, not the 'input supervision' mess.

There's tons of codes i see when they come off the fleets (only in history though) that are also not in the manuals. another one that is a mystery is 'Comm Supervision'. A few Precedents also said something about being tampered with but i don't recall the exact code. There's also 'EM Brake Driver OC' that also ended up being a bad controller, refused to unlock the brake. Brake was OK. also not in manual.

That is from running one of those aftermarket HD (Heavy Duty) motor brakes that draws too much current (the OC in the error message), and it causes the FET that turns the EM brake on and off to burn open or short circuit.

Did a little google search. It’s in the 2017 version of the service manual

CHARGER INPUT SUPERVISION
Supervisor fault
Vehicle Disabled
Condition clears
1. Mismatch in switch status
2. Check voltage on ignition interlock. Should be < 4V with charger plugged in. Should be > 16V unplugged

Check voltage on the ignition interlock. Place the negative (-) probe of the voltmeter on the negative #4 battery terminal. Use a back probe pin with the positive (+) meter probe to check the voltage of the blue interlock wire on the back side of the receptacle. The voltage should be <4V with the charger plugged in and should be >16V unplugged.

Here’s where I found it:

That is good to know, but in my case it was a bad controller, as a replacement one fixed it completely. I could not find anything about it on Google just some PDFs from Curtis manuals where it was not listed. Could not find any for the specific model used in the RXV. We need updated service manuals, ours ended with Danahar.

But with little to go on and the replacement controller working with the same charger port, it still got fixed.

Weird part about Google is that it is personalized. Works different for different folks. I notice when i am not logged in, the results are even less relevant.
