Default 2001 ezgo txt electric "no go"

I have a 2001 ezgo txt. It runs like new- when it runs. It will randomly slow to a crawl and eventually not move at all- FWD or REV, as if the batteries are going dead, even with a full charge (38 volts with meter) . I can hear the solenoid click when the accellerator is pressed. No clue on where to start trouble shooting. Thanks

What type drive?
F/R lever for Series drive is next to driver's right knee
F/R switch for a Sepex drive (PDS) is on dash next to keyswitch.

If the solenoid clicks when pedal is pushed, the problem is in the high current circuit, or throttle.

When cart is misbehaving:

Put the Run/Tow switch in the Two position and remove environmental cover on the controller.

Connect your DVM's black test lead on the controller's B- terminal and the red test lead on the M- terminal (M- is labeled A1 on PDS controllers).

Put Run/Tow into Run and press pedal just far enough to make solenoid click.

You should read full battery pack voltage. (38.2V if fully charged)

If you don't, check the high current cables for a broken wire or bad connection.

If you do get pack voltage, slowly press pedal to floor and the voltage ought to smoothly decrease to about 0V.

If it doesn't, check the throttle input to the controller.

You can download the Owner, Service and Parts manuals here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html They are the three .pdf file near top of page.

I checked the voltage from b- and a1 it was 38 v, even before i pressed the pedal to make the solenoid click. After it clicked, it stayed 38v, pedal all the way down to floor, it remained 38volts. Still no go.

There is a pre-charge resistor connected between the solenoid's large terminals that keeps the filter capacitors charged, so reading close to full battery pack voltage before the solenoid clicks is normal.

Okay, you get 38.xV when solenoid clicks, but it doesn't decrease as pedal is pushed. That means a bad throttle input to the controller or a bad controller.

Attached are excerpts from the troubleshooting tree in the service manual that tell you how to check the throttle.

If it tests good, the controller is bad.

Replace the controller with a user programmable Alltrax XCT48400 (or larger) controller and your cart will do upwards of 24MPH on stock height tires with a 36V battery pack. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltrax-xct-sepex--.html

The directions say attatch the Black probe to the B- at the battery. Is this to any battery? Or is there a specific battery i should consider for the B-?
