Default EZGO 08/ TXTPDS Slow speed and no go

I have a new to me 36v 08 THT PDS. New batteries, new charger.

When fully charged I can go in forward and reverse. But may be quick at the beginning and then slows down to a crawl. Then may not go at all. Let the cart sit a little while and has the same actions as listed before. I do not hear the click from the solenoid. I had a similar issue with my Yamaha G19, and it was the solenoid, but I was able to hear it click before it went out.

UPDATE: I want to retract the part about he solenoid not clicking. I can hear it click in forward and reverse. The cart is just real slow. Also slow going up hills.

Am I just used to a 48v, and they are so much faster? I feel like it should at least be hitting 10 mph or so.

I have a new solenoid ordered and on the way. Concerned that the controller may be overheating.

Put controller in diagnostic mode and listen for the beeped error code.

The label on the controller cover (attachment-1) tells you what the various error codes mean and the text at bottom of label tells you how to get into diagnostic mode.

The first set of beeps tells you what PDS mode the cart is in.
Attachment-2 is the modes and attachment-3 is the plugs and beep codes for each.

I did all the testing as suggested in the other post you replied to with similar issue.

A few times I'm having issues getting the solenoid to click, but it eventually does.

I got 38.2v at B- & A1 with solenoid at first click

When I put the peddle to the floor I only drop down to 18v +/-

First is 1 beep and I do not have a chip so this should be correct its in normal.

Second set I got a 2-1 "Low Battery Voltage". They are new batteries form Sam's. I checked voltage at each battery and got 6.3 at each.

New doesn't equate to good.

Connect your DVM to the battery pack and drive cart.
What does pack voltage drop to under load?

Also, check the voltage on J1 Pin-4 and J1 Pin-5. Both should be full battery pack voltage. (J1 Pin-4 might be 0V if charger is plugged into cart)

Pack voltage is at 38v +/-

On jacks (not under load) the pack voltage drops to 37v +/-

J1 Pin 4 & 5 have full battery pack voltage 38v +/-

I will say that at first start after the cart sitting the RPM's in forward on jacks are high (the wheels seem to be moving fast). Then after cycling into reverse and back into forward the RPM's seem to be slower (wheels seem to me moving slower). I am able to hear a change in tone out of the motor with the higher and lower RPM's.

The stock solenoid is only rated for 85A, which is marginal for even a 300A stock controller, so it might have badly burnt contacts. You said you had a solenoid on order, so replacing the solenoid might cure the cart.

I may have spoke too soon.

Cart ran well for a little while (around the neighborhood)

All of a sudden dropped speed to a crawl

1. I do have 22x11x10 wheels and tires on the cart
2. The solenoid i bought from Amazon: Ezgo golf cart 36 volt electric solenoid. 4 terminal, #70 series solenoid with copper contacts and short housing. For E-Z-GO electric 1968-up
3. The old solenoid that was on the cart had no resistor or diode

Wondering if I need a larger solenoid? Do i need a resistor and diode?

For the most part the cart is stock besides the replaced solenoid and wheels and tires I put on.
