Freedom plugs never get me above 19. What am I doing wrong[emoji52]. I just put one in, too.

Tire height greater than 18" will get you more than 19MPH with a freedom plug, unless they are low pressure type tires, than 19MPH might not be reached.

In the freedom mode, the stock PDS controller (Curtis 1206MX) RPM limits the motor to about 4400RPM, which translates to 18.9MPH.

The OP's cart is in the golf or all terrain mode, so the controller is limiting the motor to about 3100RPM and if he is getting 17MPH, he very likely has tires that are about 22.5" tall.


The down side on taller tires is the same as the down side on numerically lower gear ratios, torque loss. With 22.5" tall tires, the torque loss is 20%.

OP cart is lifted with larger tires. Stock size 18" tires will get 19mph, and no more.
