Default Stock 2003 DS speed

So after getting my batteries all situated and within a 1/10th of a volt of each other, and sitting in the charger all night and day, I took her for a cruise. Average speed on flat over roads =11mph. Up a hill I was around 8. Headlights did not dim going up hill. Is this my max speed? Anything I can do to make it quicker besides a controller and motor?

Which drive system? 36V, 48V Series, or 48V IQ? Post your serial number if unsure and we can help.

This is the normal speed for a 48 volt series car. They weren't made to go fast. A high speed motor upgrade can get you up to around 20 MPH with a minimal loss of torque. To gain your torque back you're gonna have to do a controller with it.

I’m surprised there aren’t any mods like changing resistor values or something if that sort. I’d love to pull the schematic for this controller and figure out a way to beef it up to allow more amperage.

I’m pretty sure FSIP will rebuild it to a 400 amp controller for about $150 but that’s not going to give you more speed

Greg-G is correct. Extra amperage will not result in added speed.
