Re: ALLTRAX XCT500 and D&D 170-502-0001 High Torque Motor Upgrade
One of the main benefits of 48v operation is the need for fewer amps to make the same amount of power or speed. This is something I've been trying to pound into everybody's head because less amps means less heat and less wear on all of the drive components. I think if you go back a couple of years and reread our discussions you will find me saying the same thing.
With 5 yr old batteries you need new ones sooner than you think. 5 years is about the average useful life for a pack of 6v batteries. You need 500 amps on 36v to do the work of 400 amps on 48v. Want the best of both worlds go 500 amps at 48v.... But I have 48v test carts with 300 and 400 amp controllers and aftermarket speed motors that are scary quick. P.S. I never want to sell anybody something they do not want or need. It's not good for either of us. |

Re: ALLTRAX XCT500 and D&D 170-502-0001 High Torque Motor Upgrade
ScottyB, so if I purchase the XCT500and 400 amp solenoid, can I run FSIP HT motor as is until I get the 48 volt battery pack? or will you need to adjust it down for the 36 volt system? Also If I purchase the XCT500 controller and 400 amp solenoid and FSIP HP motor, all I will need to purchase later is 6-8 volt batteries and a 48 volt charger is this correct? thanks again!
