Default need more torque

i have a 03 ez go txt 36v with 23 in tires. the batteries are new but when i need batteries i will upgrade to 48v. i don't care to much about speed but i do need more torque for hills. where do start?

what drive system is your cart....SERIES or SEPEX (PDS)?

Take a look at the drive components in Sir Nuke’s signature. 2g cables, hd f/r (reversing contactor is another option, but both dependent on the drive type of your cart) , hd solenoid, 500 amp controller. If you still needed more after those items, and the 48v pack, you could also add a torque motor.

Note: I recently replaced my motor and EMP built me one that can be switched from torque to speed. I think you were just talking about getting up hills, but interesting option to have if you want speed at times too.

You’ve got to spend a bit, but it’s pretty crazy what you can get these things to do compared to how they came from the factory.

If you can live with smaller tires, that would be a good place to start, regardless of drive type.

Larger wheels and tires, especially going from stock 18" to 23" takes a large bite away from the torque you need for climbing hills.

Yes, over 25% torque loss when going from 18-23 inch tires.

Couldn't he gain some of that torque back with going to 48 volts and upgrading all the usual components?
