Default EZGO 36 volt series issues

I have a series 36 volt ezgo in the shop. Motor tested bad so we replaced the motor. It has a 1205 Golframa 400 amp controller in it. New HD F&R switch.

Cart runs in reverse but in forward the wheels won't turn and a couple of the cables going to the motor get really hot.

I did just get a very slight shutter at the rear wheels when trying forward.

Pack voltage is 37.4.

Any suggestions?

I did also notice that it looks to have a stock solenoid. Is that enough for a 400amp controller?

Swap the + and - leads on the motor, see if it changes direction.

Jack up the rear axle, put it on Jack stands and try running it up in the air and run it.

Based on your description, FNR cam is not travelling all the way to both stops.

New FNR switch needs adjusting. FNR is attached to support bracket. There are four bolts that hold the support bracket to the frame. Loosen them, place FNR at exactly 12:00, slide the support bracket to left and right (driver's, passenger) until the handle is exactly at 12:00. Tighten up bolts.

Make sure linkage isn't in any bind, preventing it from traveling all the way to F and R.

All contacts on F&R look to be aligned, but I will do the 12 oclock alignment in a few.

Does the cam go all the way to both stops? If it does, forget my alignment comment.

Check for loose connectors, though heating in one direction and not the other makes no sense for a series, as long as FNR contacts are making a good connection. Did you check the middle nut to see if it could be tightened?

Cam does go all the way in both directions and the center nut is almost too tight. Lever is very difficult to move in either direction.

Did you check all cable nuts for tightness? Note, motor and solenoid require two wrenches.

Hot cables mean bad cables or bad connection. However, the cables don't know which direction the current is going, so I can't explain them getting hot only in one direction.

To answer your other question, no, a stock solenoid is barely enough for golfing. You'll need to upgrade, but this isn't your problem.

Can you tell us which cables and/or connectors get hot, and confirm they aren't hot in both directions?

Are you sure "new" motor is good? Are you sure it's a series?

I would say you need to charge the batteries. Could be the problem. Your batteries are only at around 70% charged at 37 volts. And dropping to about 10% charged when you step on the pedal
