Charged or Not?

We didn't use (or charge) our EZGO TXT for several weeks so the batteries were dead (I suppose) and the charger wouldn't even charge so I charged each battery individually until there was enough power for the charger to kick on.

Now the battery meter on the cart will not go above about 4 bars but my voltmeter shows around 50.5V. Do I need to reset the meter or is there a different fix?

**Side note: Batteries are less than 2 years old...

I would not trust the meter on the cart. Go by your DVM.

I would buy a digital volt meter from one of the site sponsors.

I'd also do half a dozen back to back charges, as you are only around 90% charged. Unplug charger from cart then plug it back in. Allow the charger to turn off automatically.

Keep a copy of the attached.

OR just remember 51 volts is 100%. For every 0.5 volts below that it's 10% below the previous. This is just approximate, but close enough for me, as it's a little conservative.

100% 51.0 volts
90% 50.5 volts
80% 50.0 volts
70% 49.5 volts
60% 49.0 volts
50% 48.5 volts

I already have a digital voltmeter and your suggestion may have worked! I unplugged and plugged in the charger about 6 or 7 times and now it shows a full charge! The voltmeter reads 51.9 so I guess this fixed the battery meter on the golf cart itself. Thank you!

Another question though: It sounds like the batteries are boiling and I've done some searching on this but unable to find anything definitive. Is this a potential issue? Thank you for the help!!!

Batteries are gassing, releasing tiny hydrogen bubbles from the bottom of the cells. This indicates heavy charging - something you want

To get a real SOC, you need to wait 12 to 24 hours after the charger cuts off.

Ok, so I waited 24 hours and the voltmeter reads 49.1 and the charge indicator reads full charge. According to the previous chart this isn't right?

You should throw away the bar chart meter. It resets at full charge, which in your case, is pathetic. Do half a dozen back to back charges and hope for the best. Check water levels. They may be toast, though if they meet your needs, no need to change them right away, unless you have a stock DCS, which apparently die from low voltage.
