Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
I took apart the little gray brake switch to clean it up and now I can't remember the orientation of the push button switch. Should pressing the gray brake switch close or open the circuit?
Hopefully a quick answer for me, I rushed and didn't pay attention before disassembling. Thanks much. (2008 EZGO RXV) |

Re: Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
If I remember correctly. The brake switch and the throttle switch are the same switch. The have 3 wires, one pair is normally open. One pair is normally closed. So the brake switch should be the opposite of the throttle switch!
That said, the connector with the wiring harness ensures the correct connections. Unless there has been splicing done on some wiring, somewhere. it should connect correctly? I read it was taken apart to clean? On my cart the switch mechanisms were sealed in Grey plastic boxes? They weren't too terribly expensive so I just replaced them. Re: Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
If I recall, the plunger should point towards the driver, so the pedal can hit it when pressed nearly all the way to the floor.

Re: Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
Sorry I know the orientation of how the switch mounts, so I guess I should have been more specific, I just need to know know what should happen when you press the gray brake switch (I took the switch apart). Should it go from open to closed when pressed, or go from closed to open? Because I can flip how the switch goes together to get either one with how the contacts are arranged, just need to know which one

Re: Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
When you push brake pedal it closes the switch allowing the curcuit to complete.
It goes from open to closed when pushing pedal. One terminal is common other two are either open or closed. You want open side of switch. Check with ohm meter Down load the wiring diagram from the “stickies” here ,very helpfull for future trouble shooting😊 HTH |

Re: Quick RXV Brake Switch Question
The switch on the RXV brake pedal goes from closed to open at about 60% of pedal travel, or close to 100% on the brake encoder value.
