Default Key Switch for Voltage reducer

I have a 2002 48v DS and installing a 48v to 12v voltage reducer that doesn't have a dedicated wire for the key switch but want the converter to be switched on/off with the key. Lot's of information in other threads regarding installing a relay but need clarification. Am I able to simply wire the 'positive in' to the converter directly to the switch (dead side when key is off) and the negative to the end of the battery series? There is 48v at the key when measuring hot side of key and negative on last battery. Prefer to not ruin the cart or fry what little hair I have left! Thx

The Key Switch +48v wire probably can not handle the current the voltage reducer will draw.
The voltage reducer +48v wire should go to bat1+ and the -48v wire to bat6-.
The Key Switch is used to trigger a 48v capable relay to provide the reducer with +48v power.
The relay will take less than .5A and won't be a noticeable load on that circuit.

Thanks for the guidance. I will go the route of using the relay. Do you happen to have a part number or specs of what relay I should use? I believe I can research a wiring diagram in other threads.

I used a 48v 40A relay like this.
They used to be cheap, but 3 cost just a little more that 1 ???
I figured a couple of extras for future projects wouldn't hurt.
Search for " 48V 40A 4 pin relay " on Amazon or ebay.
