2016 RXV Intermittent Failure
Hey Gents,
2016 RXV 48V Last night we were riding around the neighborhood and the cart suddenly lost power and came to a stop. Troubleshooted in street, nothing seemed to work then 5 minutes later I got another 1/4 mile, lost power again, another 5 minutes and it starts working and get it home the last 1/2 mile. While disabled: 1. In both tow and run: Buzzer and click in reverse, but won’t try to move, no click in forward won’t try to move 2. Won’t roll in tow, won’t roll in tow with Emergency brake release jumper. 3. Smells hot in controller area. Back in garage won’t roll in tow, have not tried the emergency Brake release jumper jumper yet. Battery full per SoC gauge, only went a couple miles after full charge last night. Looks like likely culprits are solenoid or brake. I’ll voltage and resistance test the brake connector the morning. If that’s not it, any way to confirm it’s the solenoid? Any other possible culprits or tests I can do? TIA |

27 ohms at brake. 48V with tow in N.
Sounds like bad brake. Edit, definitely brake. Had water in it? A bent bolt, and the actuator won’t fire. |

Thanks for the pics. Were there any warning signs or unusual behavior prior to the shutdowns that you noticed?

I would change the solenoid at the same time as the brake

Re: 2016 RXV Intermittent Failure
Let us in on the relationship between the two, and the need to replace one when the other failed with water intrusion. And if you want to donate all your perfectly fine working solenoids, I'm sure the owners of early rxvs with the bad solenoid would love all the free trombettas you wanna donate.

I’m going to try out the eBay replacement, borrowed one from a neighbor until it comes in. Very easy swap, three 10mm bolts and the electrical connector. A little cumbersome to get it lined back up with the shaft. |
