Default Replacing 12 inch tires

I'm looking to change out the tires on my 12" aftermarket rims and was wondering where everyone is going to do this? Do I need to source a golf cart specific shop or can a regular auto tire shop do this on a 12" rim? This is my first time changing out tires on an aftermarket set of rims and I don't want to damage my pretty black wheels. Thanks for your input!

Most tire shops can do it, some bigger tire stores won’t, though. I have gone to Mexican tire shops to mount mine.

There used to small wheels in some automotive applications. For instance early Honda Civics had 12 inch wheels. Original Austin Mini's had 10 inch wheels. Certainly there are lots of trailer applications for small diameter wheels. I'm sure three are a few tire shops that won't want to deal with them, but I think most can mount & dismount - but don't necessarily have a good supply chain to sell you golf cart specific tires.

I’ve always just done it myself. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of my cheap HF tire changer.

Most chain tire stores won’t touch anything that’s not a car/truck tire. Many times the smaller independent ships will though.

I’ve used my local gas station / tire change shop for my small tires. ATVs and golf cart... They can do small and larger tires. You just need to check with shops around you.

Thanks guys, this information is priceless!
I wasnt sure if any of the tire shops could do 12" wheels as most older cars had 13" but I wasn't even thinking about trailer tires or cars like older triumph/fiats and mini's. Thanks!
I have thought about the HF small tire changer but with little knowledge of it & as infrequently needed I just kind of pushed that idea back. I did watch a few vids on it prior to this post and wasn't sure enough.
Thanks again, extremely helpful!

I’ve got the full size tire changer. Never tried the mini one. It works great for smaller wheels and tires. And for the $50 I paid for it, it paid for itself the first time I used it.

Really appreciate the info on the tire shop capabilities.

How are those full size tire changers with low profile tires? My tires are 215/35r12 and are very low profile. I wouldn't want to damage the wheels using the bar to pry the slim side wall tire over the rim edge or are they pretty harmless? I'm afraid I'll nick up my nice black powder coated wheels.

Just my experience, but you will want to watch the tire guys and maybe even offer a few extra rubles to be careful. I have black rims on one of my dirt bikes and as much as I didn't want them scratched it is kind of impossible not to when changing a tire on them. I get that these are two different animals but to the tire guy it is just another job to get done, and they aren't real concerned about keeping your wheel nice like you are.
