Default advice buying this DS

Sorry if I’m not posting in the right place, but there’s this 91 DS at the farm where my girlfriend and i keep one of our horses. I spoke with the landowners family today about buying it. They asked what i would offer and i told them I’d be back this week with an offer. It looks to be in decent shape. Not great, but I’ll be planning on putting a new body and upgraded parts all around. The frame looked great. This would be my first golf cart and I’d like to know what to offer them. I was thinking $250, but i may be way off. Any advice? Thanks In advance.

Yes, you are in the right place. And you'll find a lot of help here as needed to get that cart going.

Aluminum framed Club Cars are indestructible! If you can get that for $250.00, consider yourself very fortunate. That is a series cart which doesn't have a lot of upgrade options, but parts are readily available to get it right.

Good luck!

I'd offer $50. There is not a square inch of the that doesn't need work. Looks like a fun project if you are looking for a project. It's a resistor coil cart so any use other than a flat trailer park queen for Gramma it will need a solid state conversion to modern electronics 6/8v batteries and a 48v charger. Seats and tires are probably shot. Figure a $1500-2k budget to fix it up decent.

Of course you could always piece and patch it together and run it as is... depends upon what you want. Have fun

its old 36volt and to do it right you will need to follow what scotty just said . the cheaper the better but you will be able to make a strong workhorse out of that cart. just a tip, that 36-volt motor will play really well on 48volts.

Mine looked pretty similar to this one when I got it and it was given to me; knowing what it took to put it back together I would probably echo starting at $50-you can go up to your $250 from there. Good luck!

It's got good bones...but as others have said, you will need a substantial investment (time and money) to get it going again. Do they have a charger to go with it? If not, I would upgrade to 48 volts.

$250 would be Max! I'd try a little cheaper, and do the conversion to get rid of the resistor coils! Scotty can help with that!

even scottyb's price might be high, that cart is basically abandoned junk, they should pay you to remove it. but you could always offer to remove the eyesore for free

Thanks everyone. I’ll be talking to the guy this weekend. Hopefully we can work something out. I’ll update as soon as I get more information. My overall plan is to do a full build. Wheels, lift, spartan body, rear seats, longer roof, upgraded motor and controller, lithium battery, led lighting, stereo, etc.

Ohhh, so you got time and money!!! LOL. Be sure to start new thread so we can keep up with your progress on this (if you get it). That'll be some project. Good luck, hope you get it.
