Default 1999 club car ds

What is this mounted on the solenoid of a v glide resistor coil 36 v golf cart? Can it be removed? Small white rectangler block mounted on large lugs of solenoid. 36v lester electric 21840 is the only number I can read on the part.
A9940-811597 is serial number.

This is a snubber resistor, which is a combination resistor/capacitor used to prevent arcing across the solenoid contacts when it opens. Arcing will eventually burn the contacts in the solenoid and can make them stick open or closed.

If you would install an Alltrax controller for your series cart, you only need a 250 ohm, 10 watt resister across the large posts and a 1N540B diode across the small posts.

Scotty @ Carts Unlimited can help you with all of this if needed.
