The all terrain mode is the slowest. Roughly 13MPH on stock height tires (18" tall), so your tires are roughly 22" tall if you are getting 16MPH.

Putting a block of some kind under the pedal so it couldn't be pushed to floor might work, but other than that, it won't be cheap.

Replacing the stock controller with an Alltrax XCT47300-PDS (or larger) user programmable controller would solve the problem. It can have up to 3 users and the top speed can be limited for each of them.

Another trick is lowering the pressure in the tires. Might help.

Also, the Steep Hill PDS mode has same top speed as All Terrain, but has heavy regen braking, so the cart slows quickly when pedal is lifted.

This cart has a reduced reverse speed mode. Keeps everybody safer by reducing speed when the cart is in reverse.
Johnnie B I think he can install a switch to tell the controller the cart is in reverse in both directions by putting power to the orange wire at pin 2.

Couldn't he also adjust the throttle box so the voltage to the controller doesn't get so high?

Scotty, the stock PDS controller defaults to Forward and is told to go into Reverse by putting pack voltage on J1 Pin-2. Putting voltage on Pin-2 will put it into 1/2 speed AND put it into reverse.

Pin-3 is actually Run rather than Forward. When in Reverse, Pin-2 is connected to Pin-3 via an internal diode. See attached drawing.

That might work.

Put a resistor in series with the white wire (my guess - maybe the black).

Not sure of Ohmic value for the resistor. I'd try 1kΩ or so and go from there.

I was thinking more simply, adjust it so less of the plunger enters the sensor.

That might not be as simple as adding a resistor.

That is true. I guess it depends on his electrical skills/knowledge.
