Post New Member with Western 400

Hello,
I recently bought my 1st cart, a 2007 Western model 400, 42v, 2-seat.
It's a blue beauty in good condition, but prior owner had no owners manual
to convey with it. Local dealer could not help with this and no one answered
my email to the Western Golf Car website. If any fellow member could help,
I would appreciate. The cart runs fine, but it's nice to have some type of
manual /documentation for one's important toys. Thanks

I own 2 of the same cart, they are just a ezgo with different body, this model has a 36-48 v controller, hd solenoid. I changed mine to 48v and gained some speed, all you need to do is change to 48v batts and charger.kirk

Congrats on the new cart. I have a 1998 42v Western 400. Great carts!
Let me know what info you need and I should be able to answer most of your questions.
What is your serial number?

The only changes to the later model 400's was round headlights, mine are retangular.
Your 2007 may even be one of the oddball carts built late and may even be on a CC chassis due to a rumored fallout with EZGO and their credit dept.
I was under the impression that Western never made a cart after 2006. They had been doing refurb and upgrade models.
Photos may help as well. The battery compartment especially.

mine are a 97 & 98, however both are built on 96 ezgo chassis. they built these in no. palm springs ca. until approx 2007, one of the principals of western is the owner of electric car distributors in rancho mirage,ca. who were ezgo dlrs but now sell club car. we have many custom cart builders here in the ca. desert area as we have 130 country clubs with homes on the golf course and most people have there own carts. kirk

Well said Kirk. I think you can still get wiring diagrams from Electric Car distributors but the main chassis is just EZGO wiring.

My new (used) Western model 400 is VIN#14V5621177W028231
with a 1/2007 manufacture date on the tag under front lid.
This must have come off their line right before they ceased mfg.
It sits a little lower on the left rear, where the 7th battery is.
The leaf spring & shock appear to be OK. A cart mechanic told me
that 1 extra leaf could be added to that spring & bring the corner
up a bit. Any opinions on this ? I will post photo(s) of battery
compartment in a few days. Thanks for your input.
