Re: Exploding batteries!
The only time I have ever seen anything even close to this amount of damage was when the customer had towed the cart for a long distance with the tow/run switch still in run. If the motor is toast also, then you will know.

Re: Exploding batteries!
Now that's an idea. I just called my local guy and he said he is out of "old" caps because he just got a shipment of carts with the BFS on them and he replaced all of them with caps.

Re: Exploding batteries!
Look carefully at the first pic and you'll see why they look " warped ". The tops are blown off! I've seen batteries blow up where the case is completely shattered and the plates are visible! That was in an automotive maintenance free battery, though. In those there are no fill tops to blow off.

Re: Exploding batteries!
I'll venture a guess that the seat covers were blown off too. Or at least required extensive cleaning to remove the brown stains.
Kidding aside, I've clipped the interconnecting tubes between batteries to limit an explosion to just one battery instead of chain-firing all six. I left the three caps per battery connected so they are less likely to run away and hide while I'm checking/filling the cells. |
