Plowman's vs. EzGo's Limited Slip Diffs
OK, I have a 1997 TXT (series) and am looking at adding a limited slip rear. I have two choices: Plowman's and the EzGo limited slip diff.
Plowman's (fits 1998-2006 txt's) http://www.plowmanscarts.com/carts.c...1331320162&v=2 EzGo (fits 1997-2008 txt's with 73500G01 axle) http://www.shopezgo.com/products/Lim...ntial-Kit.html Well I have neither a 1998 or a 73500G01 axle so both are out at first glance. I contacted ezgo and they confirmed their limited slip will fit my 1997 even though it has a 73069G01 axle. I next contacted a vendor of Plowman's limited slip and after a while they too confirmed the unit would fit my application. Now I'm really confused. I thought the 1998+ had the larger differential carrier. If I have the small carrier (1997) I don't see how the plowmans would fit. I think these people just want to make sales, both of them! Anyone have any input? |

Re: Plowman's vs. EzGo's Limited Slip Diffs
This is a good topic you have here. One that I have wondered about and always wanted a limited slip as well. I have a 97 and I will have to check axle number or carrier size. There has been some recent threads about posi units.
Somebody will chime in. |

figured I'd resurrect this one instead of starting a new one
I think I'm going to buy the ezgo limited slip this week. I know it's probably meant for a stock work horse with maybe 20 inch tires. How do you guys think it would handle 25 inch tires? |

I like the Plowman's posi unit. The look similar, but Don's fiber washers are larger.

Re: Plowman's vs. EzGo's Limited Slip Diffs
I have the EZ-GO unit in mine. Now, it came with it as it was built by a custom cart builder. I will tell you that the EZ-GO unit WILL NOT work in reverse. But it is my understanding.....check some postings or ask plowman first....that the Plowman's will work in forward and reverse. Believe me....working in reverse when you need it would be a big plus.

Re: Plowman's vs. EzGo's Limited Slip Diffs
I just recently installed a kit that looks exactly like plowman's but did not come from them. Kit install is very easy and I have to say it works very well. Just remember that when reinstalling the differential pin that the roll pin is installed correctly, I didn't pay attention and did not drive the pin enough to fully engage diff pin. After driving a while the diff pin backed out and did some gear grinding. But overall very happy with the product.

Re: Plowman's vs. EzGo's Limited Slip Diffs
well I am glad I resurrected this thread. I was worried about it wearing out too quickly with such a large tire. I guess that does not seem to be an issue. reverse however is if I get stuck with limited slip going forward. I think I'm going to need it to get out in reverse.
