Default New batteries question (36v)

I had to get new batteries. They were from 12/12 stamped date. First question, is that OK (6months sitting uncharged)?

I've charged them a few times. On Sunday, they were fully charged and all 6.6-6.7 volts. Today, about 3 days later, they are at 37.7V total or 6.2-6.3 individually just from sitting.

They came from an auto parts store so I could make a fuss and try to exchange if anything looks out of the norm here. New batteries are kind of expensive so I just want to make sure they are operating in new condition. Any way to tell based on what info I've provided?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I don't use it much so 12-20 cycles will take a little while. In any case, the 6 months shouldn't be a problem?
Also... I just read the PDF. You think it's OK to take several weeks to get to 10 charges or do I need to start doing this every couple of days just to break in?

not a problem ... batterys will settle after a charge ... they will improve with a few charges ... try to use cart a little each day and charge it .. this is good for the batteries .. oh and check the water (distilled only )
