We use these rubber captured nut things at work to reattach mirrors into fiberglass hoods you just drill a hole and slid them in and tighten down the screw 3 or 4 of them will hold a school bus hood mirror on and they weigh like 8 lbs a piece with all of the brackets and mirror glass

great idea on those rubber well nuts. I have never thought about using those.
