ezgo pds starts to go then shuts down

If you got full battery pack voltage between B-and M- on controller the controller is turned on ( battery voltage on pin4 ) the ITS should be putting out somewhere around .5 volts when the solenoid is first engaged or clicks then around 1.5 volts with the pedal fully down , if this is occurring the controller is being told to pass amps to the motor if it isn't the controller is bad

Plus the added burnt electrical smell = the controller has given up the ghost.

scotty your the man! when I took controller out the diode was laying against the controller and melted through the plastic cover on controller. can I remove diode or whatever that resistor thinggy is off solenoid and try it?

Diode and resistor are not needed for testing. However, they should be replaced once trouble-shooting is complete.

Sounds like the troubleshooting process reached a valid conclusion, that being the controller is toast, but some of the troubleshooting info given was a for a series controller rather than a PDS controller.

On a PDS controller, the M- terminal is labeled A1.
ITS voltage when solenoid first clicks is 1.0 +/- 0.3 V and 2.9 +/- 0.4 V when pedal is down.
There are four Jacks on a PDS controller that contain a Pin-4 and none of those Pin-4's are connected to the pedal switch, which tells the controller to activate the solenoid.
Both B+ (Yellow wire) and B- (Blue wire) are needed to activate solenoid and PDS controller supplies both of them, so two jumpers are needed to test solenoid coil.

This is relatively minor stuff and I only point it out to avoid confusion to future readers of this thread.

Although came to same conclusion ill have to be more careful next -time

Could i also just jump across the two large contacts of solenoid to bybass? When i have eliminated all issues but controller.
